How to raise a complaint about an MBIR™ practitioner, what happens after it is received, and how decisions are reached.
MBIR™ International is committed to maintaining high professional standards, ethical practice, and public confidence in the profession.
We believe that a fair, transparent, and respectful complaints process is an essential part of professional accountability. Every complaint is considered carefully, impartially, and in accordance with our published procedures.
Our aim is to protect the public, support professional integrity, and ensure that MBIR™ practitioners continue to uphold the standards expected of the profession.
All MBIR™ practitioners are expected to work in accordance with the MBIR™ Professional Standards, Ethical Principles, Scope of Practice and Practitioner Competency Standards.

Where appropriate, we encourage concerns to be resolved directly with the practitioner before a formal complaint is submitted.
However, direct contact is not required if this would be inappropriate, unsafe or distressing, or if the concern involves serious misconduct. In those circumstances, a formal complaint may be submitted immediately.
The process is designed to be proportionate, impartial and clear for both the complainant and the practitioner.
The written complaint and any supporting information are logged securely.
Receipt is confirmed and the complainant is informed about the next stage and any information still required.
The concern is reviewed to confirm that it falls within MBIR™ International’s remit and to identify the appropriate response.
Relevant evidence may be gathered, and the practitioner is given a fair opportunity to understand and respond to the concerns raised.
The available information is considered against the relevant professional standards and a proportionate decision is made.
The parties are informed of the decision, the reasons for it and any action that will follow, subject to confidentiality requirements.
Information about the appeal route and the applicable submission timeframe is provided with the outcome.
Possible outcomes may include:
The available information does not support further action under the complaints procedure.

Registration or recognised status may be suspended while conditions are addressed.
Registration may be withdrawn where serious or repeated breaches are established.
A concern may be referred where another regulator or professional body has relevant jurisdiction.
MBIR™ practitioners are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, ethical practice, client welfare, and accountability.
Detailed requirements are set out on the dedicated governance pages below rather than repeated here.
Complaints are treated confidentially. Information is shared only where necessary to assess, investigate or respond to the complaint, or where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect welfare.
Complaint records are retained securely and in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and record-retention requirements.
Complainants and practitioners may appeal eligible decisions. Appeals must normally be submitted within the timeframe stated in the published procedure or outcome letter.
Appeals are reviewed independently wherever possible and focus on whether the procedure was fair, relevant information was properly considered, or a material error affected the decision.
Contact MBIR™ International or complete the complaint submission form. Please provide a clear description of the concern, relevant dates, the practitioner’s name and any supporting documents available.
