Benefits of Having Professional Mentoring
Mentoring is essential for trainee therapists as well as those already up in practice. Here are the benefits from having group mentoring.
- Firstly, you need community and connection. Since most therapists work as self-employed, it can be a very isolating profession: just you, your client and their problems. Having support is essential in this environment.
- Secondly, mindset is vital in any profession – many people who practice as EFT therapists come in from different careers. Careers are diverse as accountancy, law, shop assistants, cleaners, scientists, engineers etc. With any profession, there is a way of thinking within it. Connecting with your peers helps you develop this mindset. The consequences of this are that you feel connected, part of, these are critical feelings related to health and well-being.
- Thirdly, clients share their issues with you. Some therapists can feel an enormous responsibility to help, which can, over time, cause burnout. Having mentoring allows therapists to get second opinions on challenging cases. It can release the burden of feeling solely responsible for helping your client overcome their problems. It turns it into a collaborative effective with your peers and mentors as support.
- The fourth benefit is that changes occur periodically that can affect the running of your business. You need to keep informed of these changes so you can operate legally and professionally. Attending mentoring is one of the easiest ways to keep yourself updated.
- The fifth benefit is that innovation happens all the time. Learning about innovations can improve your practice.
- The sixth benefit is that many therapists forge partnerships and collaborations at these mentoring events. At previous events, attendees have asked for assistants for their talks and events. This provides benefit on both sides, for the event leader, it provides support. For the person supporting them, it gives you the experience, similar to an apprenticeship, learning the art of running events. You can also develop a referral network. Not all clients are perfect for you. You may be too busy, or feel their issues are outside of your knowledge base. In which case, you would need to refer. It is always best to refer to colleagues you know. Attending group mentoring provides you with the opportunity to get to know your colleagues and their skill bases.
- The seventh benefit is that occasionally clients complain about their therapist. Although this is extremely rare you still need to be prepared for it. If you receive a complaint, EFT International will ask for information relating to the case. Showing that you attend mentoring shows professionalism on your part.

Why Attend Mentoring?
There are many reasons that people attend mentoring. If you are or want to be an EFT therapist, having EFT Mentoring is a requirement for gaining and retaining accreditation by EFT International. Six hours of mentoring is a requirement set by EFT International for achieving their accredited practitioner status. It is also the yearly requirement for retaining it. This event satisfies this requirement.
Who Should Attend?
EFT Mentoring is for those who are either training to be practitioners or qualified therapists fulfilling their mentoring requirement set by EFT International, the accrediting body. If you have attended an EFT level 1, 2, or 3 or trainer training, and would like to have mentoring in the use of EFT to further your skills and abilities, EFT mentoring is for you.
About Mentoring
Mentoring is about developing the mindset of a therapist. It is also about gaining the support of peers so that you can take your practice to the next level. It is about pooling your knowledge so that everyone in the group can benefit from your experience. On these days attendees are given the opportunity to discuss challenging cases and to contribute and receive suggestions as to alternative ways of working with their client or issue. During these sessions, students are informed of changes within the profession that might have an impact on their practice. It is also the place to discuss new approaches and practice any techniques you feel a need to practice. These are ideal opportunities to network and get support from colleagues.

(verified owner)I loved attending the EFTI Mentoring day with Tania Prince. It was extremely well – structured and I particularly loved that she stuck to the timings provided ahead of time. 90 minutes is just about the time that my brain and body say “I need a break now”. I loved her beautiful, calm way of answering all questions, her expertise and experience in so many areas. I appreciated how others were invited to share their experience and wisdom, too. It felt very inclusive, and Tania’s skill and experience shone through with evevery case presented. Highly recommended to get a Mentoring’ blast’ all in one day! Thank you, Tania.
