MBIR™️ Basic Procedure Demonstration

MBIR™️ Basic Procedure Demonstration with Tania A. Prince
What does the MBIR™️ Basic Procedure look like in practice?
In this video, I demonstrate the Basic Procedure from
Mindfulness-Based Inner RePatterning™️ (MBIR™️)
during a presentation for the British Isles initiative of the World Council for Health,
alongside Maureen Fearon.
It is important to make a distinction here.
This video is not a demonstration of the complete MBIR™️ methodology.
MBIR™️ is a much broader therapeutic methodology incorporating a range of processes,
principles and ways of working. What you see in this video is specifically the
MBIR™️ Basic Procedure — one of the foundational processes within the wider methodology.
Watch the MBIR™️ Basic Procedure Demonstration
As you watch the demonstration, pay attention not only to what is said,
but to the way the process unfolds.
The MBIR™️ Basic Procedure is intentionally simple.
Rather than immediately analysing an experience, searching for its cause
or attempting to force it to change, the person is invited to become aware
of what is happening internally.
That may include thoughts, emotions, physical sensations or other aspects
of their experience.
What Is the MBIR™️ Basic Procedure?
The MBIR™️ Basic Procedure is a foundational process within
Mindfulness-Based Inner RePatterning™️
.
At its heart is a shift in the way we relate to an internal experience.
When something feels uncomfortable, our instinct is often to resist it,
analyse it or try to make it disappear.
The Basic Procedure takes a different approach.
The person is guided to bring awareness to what is present and observe
their experience as the process unfolds.
This creates the opportunity to notice change rather than trying to
manufacture it.
Awareness Rather Than Force
One of the important principles underlying this work is that we do not
necessarily need to fight an internal experience in order for change to occur.
Instead, we can begin by noticing:
- What am I aware of?
- What do I notice in my body?
- What happens when I bring my attention to this experience?
- Does anything change?
This process of observation provides ongoing feedback.
The person’s own experience helps guide what happens next.
The Body Provides Information
Emotional experiences are not necessarily experienced only as thoughts.
We may notice tension, heaviness, tightness, pressure, movement,
temperature, changes in breathing or other physical sensations.
Within the MBIR™️ Basic Procedure, these experiences can provide useful feedback.
Rather than deciding in advance what a sensation means, we can simply notice
what is happening and observe whether it changes.
This is one of the reasons the process can look deceptively simple when demonstrated.
There is very little that needs to be imposed upon the experience.
The Basic Procedure Is Only Part of MBIR™️
Although this demonstration provides a useful introduction to the way MBIR™️
can work, the MBIR™️ Basic Procedure should not be confused with the complete methodology.
Mindfulness-Based Inner RePatterning™️ includes a much broader framework for
therapeutic work.
Different MBIR™️ processes can be used depending upon what is occurring for
the person and what emerges during the work.
The Basic Procedure provides an accessible way of experiencing some of the
foundational principles behind MBIR™️, particularly awareness, observation
and working with the feedback provided by the person’s internal experience.

Why I Developed MBIR™️
I developed the work that became Mindfulness-Based Inner RePatterning™️
through many years of working therapeutically with people and observing
what appeared to facilitate change.
Over time, the approach developed into a broader methodology with its own
principles, processes and practitioner training.
The MBIR™️ Basic Procedure demonstrated in this video is one element of that
wider body of work.

Experience the MBIR™️ Basic Procedure
Watching a demonstration is useful because MBIR™️ is experiential.
The simplicity of the Basic Procedure can be difficult to communicate
through explanation alone.
In the video, you can see the process unfolding in real time and observe
how the person’s experience itself becomes part of the feedback guiding the work.
